Just Think – Geelong V Carlton, Round 21

Finals’ heavyweights Geelong and Carlton will battle it out this Friday night at Etihad Stadium in a match that is sure to be a season highlight. On the cusp of September both teams are playing for that essential confidence booster but Geelong hope to score an off-field victory too. With Step Back Think, the team will use the match to raise awareness of the dangers of street violence.

Step Back Think and Geelong’s Just Think anti-street violence campaign recently joined forces. We will now operate as a team, united by our belief in the cause and the philosophy that working together will strengthen our message, its impact and its ability to influence young people’s behaviour.

The Geelong Advertiser’s successful Just Think campaign began in 2008, endorsed and supported by the Geelong players; James Kelly, David Wojcinski, Jimmy Bartel and former captain Tom Harley.

The Geelong Advertiser reported the city of Geelong experienced a 35 per cent decrease in reported street violence since the beginning of the Just Think campaign, which speaks volumes about the importance of raising awareness of the dangers of street violence.

The Round 21 Just Think match aims to elevate our campaign to new heights – reaching mothers, fathers, young adults and little kids with the message that if we just think about the consequences a single punch can have, together we can end street violence.
